bingoo

Privacy Policy  ·  Last updated: March 2026

bingoo is a real-time social prediction bingo game for iOS and Android. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the app, why we collect it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Who is responsible for your data

bingoo is operated by Tim Schaeren, an individual based in Switzerland. Switzerland is recognised by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection.

For any privacy-related questions or requests, contact:
argyles.twigs9p@icloud.com

2. Age requirement

bingoo is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the app, please contact us and we will delete the associated data.

3. What we collect and why

3a. Nickname

When you create or join a game you choose a nickname (e.g. "Tom"). This is the only name associated with you in the app. You are not required to use your real name. The nickname is stored in our database and visible to other players in the same game.

3b. Anonymous user identifier

The app uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication to assign you a random unique identifier (UID). No email address, phone number, or other personal detail is collected as part of this process. The UID is used to identify your session, enforce game rules, and allow you to resume an active game if you close and reopen the app.

3c. Push notification token

If you grant notification permission, the app registers a push notification token (issued by Expo's notification service) and stores it in our database. This token is used exclusively to send you in-game notifications such as "the game has started" or "a prediction came true". You can revoke notification permission at any time in your device settings, which will prevent further notifications.

3d. Predictions (user-generated content)

During a game lobby, players write short text predictions about each other (e.g. "will show up late"). These predictions are stored in our database and shared with all players in the game. Do not include sensitive personal information in predictions.

3e. Reports

If you report a prediction or player in the app, we store the report reason, the reported item, your anonymous UID, and the time of the report. We use this information only to review abusive or policy-violating behavior.

4. What we do not collect

5. How your data is shared

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers or third-party marketing services.

The app relies on Google Firebase (Firestore database and Authentication) to store and sync game data in real time. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf. Game data is stored on Google's servers, which may be located outside Switzerland or the EU. Google's processing is governed by Google's Data Processing Terms and Standard Contractual Clauses. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Push notifications are delivered via Expo's push notification service. Your push token is transmitted to Expo's servers solely for the purpose of delivering in-game notifications. See expo.dev/privacy.

Your nickname and predictions are visible to other players in the same game. Games are invite-only via a shared code — no game data is publicly discoverable.

If you submit a report, that report may be reviewed manually by the operator of bingoo for moderation and support purposes.

6. Data retention

Game data (nicknames, predictions, marks, and results) is retained indefinitely on Firebase servers until manually deleted. There is currently no automatic expiry. If you would like your data deleted, contact us at the address in section 1 and we will remove it promptly.

7. Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP) — and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email us at argyles.twigs9p@icloud.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Please include any information that would help us identify your data, such as your in-game nickname, the game code, and the approximate date of play. Because bingoo uses anonymous authentication with no account registration, we may not be able to identify your data without this context, and will explain this if that is the case.

8. Security

Access to game data is controlled by Firestore security rules. Only authenticated players who are members of a specific game can read that game's player data. All communication between the app and Firebase is encrypted in transit via TLS.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of Switzerland, in particular the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP).
